Achieving your goals comes effortlessly when you base it on who you are
One of the most common challenges when making New Year resolutions is that we lack the confidence to pursue them. We all have experienced disappointments or failures in the past and are afraid of the pain of failing again. And the second challenge in making goals is that we think we should make this goal because we have been told so but it does not inspire us.
However, the real problem is that we tend to focus on our mistakes rather than our gifts and blessings. Typically we see goals separate from us, something that we currently don’t have, something that is lacking, we need more money, we need to lose weight, etc, and these goals often don’t inspire us. But when create goals on the foundation of our identity, who we already are, they become natural expressions of us, coming from the place of being, instead of wanting, then working on them becomes a joyful experience. This is much more powerful.
Next time you create New Year’s resolutions, ask yourself, what outcome would you like to have, focus on the inspiring outcome, and how inspired you would feel when you reach it, what does it look like when you are doing well achieving your goal? Who would you be when you fulfilled this goal?
Creating goals is like planting seeds and at the same time having faith that they will bear fruit. If you keep your focus strong, they will eventually come true. Focus on the inspiring outcome, not the process.
